Have the home ready to test.
The exterior shell of the home should be complete enough to hold pressure. Exterior doors and windows should close, and major openings should be finished or temporarily sealed as allowed by the building department.
- Send the project address and approximate conditioned square footage.
- Confirm the home has power available for the testing equipment.
- Make sure windows and exterior doors can close securely.
- Let us know whether duct leakage testing is also required.
What does ACH50 mean?
ACH50 is the number used to show how airtight the home is during the blower door test. We calculate it from the test reading and the home’s volume, then compare the result with the requirement for the project.
How long does the test take?
Many single-home appointments can be completed in about an hour, although home size, readiness, and troubleshooting can affect the timing.
